Mile High Station Wedding Denver

What’s better than shooting a wedding at one of your favorite Denver wedding venues?

Shooting your very dear friends’ wedding at one of your favorite Denver wedding venues, that’s what.

Clark + Maddie were married this past September at Mile High Station, the perfect industrial setting for any urban-inspired Denver wedding.  They planned this fête so well that their colors (purple and green) even matched the surrounding buildings near the venue.

I may be a bit biased, but for a celebration of more than 200, this was one of the most intimate ceremonies I’ve ever attended, as a guest or as a photographer.  It was so lovely to have a front-row seat for their touching vows, and to be included in the guest count for the raging dance party that ensued.  It’s a night I won’t easily forget (despite all the margaritas I drank).

Thank you again to Clark + Maddie for having me along to document this day.  I hope you enjoy taking a look over a few of my favorite images below.

Mini-Interview with the Bride

What was your favorite part of the wedding day? Feel free to mention anything nostalgic/sentimental that you included in the day.

Reading my vows! I was proud to tell Clark my thoughts and goals for our marriage in front of all of our loved ones. It was one of the most powerful moments of my life!

What was your favorite thing to plan or design and why? What would you outsource if you had to do this all over again?

We loved finding the food trucks we chose! Food trucks cut down the cost of food for our large wedding by more than half and they also allowed us to have a fun variety for our guests. I don’t think we would outsource anything! We enjoyed planning all of the details together.

If you could give one piece of advice to other couples planning their weddings, what would it be?

Get a day-of coordinator! She made our life so much easier the day of and was a great resource leading up to the wedding for referrals and ideas. I didn’t get any phone calls from the food truck that was running late, or the florist that didn’t know where to go the day of the wedding. She handled everything so we could enjoy our party!

What did you do that was non-traditional or outside of the box for weddings?

  • We did a rehearsal brunch instead of dinner; I loved having the evening before the wedding to spend with family/friends that I wouldn’t have been able to see until the wedding if we had a rehearsal dinner.
  • We didn’t have a formal dinner at the wedding; we had two food trucks instead!
  • We didn’t do the garter/bouquet toss (Editor’s note: We love this)
  • We didn’t have a cake; we had small bite size desserts!
  • My brother was my man-of-honor
  • My husband designed the men’s ties with the help of Knotty Tie Co.
  • We both love electronic dance music so we hired two DJs in Denver that play at local clubs. It was quite the dance party!

Where did you go/are going for your honeymoon?

We went to Vail for a few days after the wedding but are planning a trip to Ibiza, Spain for our one-year anniversary!
