COVID-19 Update

Denver_engagement_photos

Hello everyone!  I wanted to drop in real quick and write a quick little update post regarding wedding photos and portraits in the time of the coronavirus.

As of March 13th, I’ve been abiding by our governor’s recommendations by isolating at home with my corgi, Sherman, and only going out in public to get groceries.  I’ve watched over 65 movies (Parasite is my favorite thus far), gone for miles and miles of dog walks, and baked a plethora of bread and other flour-filled treats (this banana bread was a hit).

Accordingly, photo shoots have been put on hold for the time being.  I’ve sadly had clients cancel engagement sessions and some have had to move their weddings to entirely new dates.  I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to plan a wedding amidst all the uncertainty.  Please know that I’m here to help and be a resource for whatever you might need.

Here in Denver, our shelter-in-place order is set to expire on May 8th, with the state’s expiring on April 26th.  Barring any changes, it appears as though I will be able to start scheduling shoots just in time for this gorgeous Colorado spring and summer weather to arrive come May and June.

As it stands now, I don’t have a definitive date for when I will be able to offer photos again.  This depends on when Mayor Hancock allows non-essential businesses to reopen.  As soon as I have official word on when it is safe to do photo shoots, I will update this post with that date correspondingly.

With all that said, I’ve decided to implement a few new guidelines for future photo shoots that I’d like to share with you all:

  • If anyone involved feels sick, the shoot will be rescheduled.
  • Only outdoor shoots will be considered.  Out of an abundance of caution, I won’t be able to do any in-home photo shoots until further notice.
  • Shooting locations will be discussed and agreed upon on a case-by-case basis.  Some of my favorite locations (Lost Gulch Lookout in Boulder, for example) have suspended offering and honoring photography permits and will unfortunately be excluded as a possibility for your shoot, pending any changes from local municipal COVID-19 guidelines.  We live in a stunning state so I’m sure we’ll be able to find a location that meets your desires and also keeps everyone safe.
  • City locations will receive a special rate reduction.  I’ve spoken about my commitment to the environment on this blog before (and on other blogs), and as of February 2020, I made a fairly big move to continue my personal journey of being as green as I can: I sold my car!  Thankfully, I live in a neighborhood that provides access to public transportation while also being within walking distance to a lot of the photogenic spots in the city: RiNo, Civic Center Park, and Union Station.  As such, I’m excited to extend my car-free savings to you!  If you would like to do your shoot at any of the city locations mentioned above, I’m happy to offer $25 off half sessions and $50 off full sessions.
  • I will wear a face mask for the duration of the shoot.  This one’s a no-brainer!  I’ll also make sure to follow social distancing guidelines by staying at least six feet away from you during the shoot.  Thank goodness for telephoto lenses!

This is all I have for now.  I’ll be updating this as need be as we move forward in dealing with this pandemic.  If you have any questions at all or you’d like to discuss your photo shoot ideas, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you for all of your support of Ashley Kidder Photo over the last decade.  I hope you are all staying safe, healthy, and sane.  Can’t wait to see you soon!
