I adore a stunning Colorado mountain wedding, but there’s something about a vibrant, stylish urban celebration that truly lights me up as a photographer.
This Curtis Hotel Denver wedding had so much going for it beyond the epic dance party atmosphere — bold colors, incredible 90s hits, and a couple who made the whole day look effortless.
Kristi and Jason were an absolute joy to work with and made the day about everyone around them. Think amazing food, a dance floor that never quit, and a rooftop setup complete with an open bar and firepit.
A few more things I loved about this Curtis Hotel Denver wedding:
- The city backdrop was everything. Their ceremony featured a stunning view of the Daniels & Fisher Clock Tower — a true Denver icon — alongside the exciting new skyline taking shape around it. Right up my alley.
- Kristi was the picture of calm. When rain threatened just before the ceremony, she didn’t miss a beat — and sure enough, the skies cleared minutes before they said their vows. Classic Colorado.
- Those florals. My talented friend Stephanie of Lalé Florals created the most breathtaking arrangements in the boldest, most joyful color palette. Bright, vibrant wedding flowers are having a moment — and honestly, they never should have left.
I’ll admit, dancing along to 90s bangers all night left my feet a little worse for wear — but this was one of those weddings that filled everyone in the room with pure joy. Kristi and Jason, thank you for welcoming me into your tropical urban paradise in the heart of Denver. Enjoy some of my favorite moments from their day!

Interview with the Bride
What was your favorite part of the wedding day? “Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing my husband at the altar. And of course, dancing the night away with everyone we love.”
If you could give one piece of advice to other couples planning their weddings, what would it be? “Music. Food. Booze. Don’t overthink it — people just want to celebrate with you. Keep it simple, because it’ll all be a blur by morning anyway.”
What was your favorite thing to plan or design and why? What would you outsource if you had to do it all over again? “Choosing the venue and the color palette was so fun — I wanted it to feel like a tropical 70s nightclub, and I think we nailed it. And Lalé absolutely crushed the florals. Everything else? I’d happily hand that off to someone else. Wedding planning is not my thing!”
What did you do that was non-traditional or outside the box? “A tropical mod wedding in Denver, for starters! Jason’s father passed away ten years ago, but he was legendary for his Hawaiian shirts and his ability to light up a room — just like his son. Incorporating Hawaiian shirts felt like the perfect way to honor him, and it set the whole tone for the day.
“The Curtis Hotel was an instant yes. The bold colors, the art-pop energy, and the convenience of having everything under one roof made it a perfect fit. Jason and I grew up in South Dakota and Connecticut respectively, but we fell in love in Denver — so it felt right to bring everyone here. We kept things relaxed and casual, right down to bringing the dog.”
Where did you go for your honeymoon? “Rio de Janeiro for Carnival in Brazil, followed by a beach resort to decompress. Perfection.”
Anything else you’d like to share? “After the reception, guests hopped on a line of pedicabs to the after-party at Appaloosa Grill for live music, then back to the Spice Girls Suite at The Curtis to keep the night going. The final song of the evening? Everyone belting ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in a circle on the dance floor. Perfect ending.”
