16th Street Mall Engagement Photos

I couldn’t be more excited to bring you these 16th Street Mall engagement photos today — my first post-quarantine shoot!

Denver’s stay-at-home order was modified into a “safer-at-home” order on May 8th, 2020.  As such, some non-essential businesses (like mine) could reopen with all the social distancing guidelines put in place.  I wore a mask the whole time during this engagement shoot and made sure to keep six feet apart from my clients at all times.

As I walked to the 16th Street Mall from my place, I realized that I was sort of…nervous.  It had been two months since I had last ventured outside the 1-mile radius of my neighborhood.  I had only been out and about to go to the grocery store and to take the dog for walks.

This shoot was my official re-entry into the work world, and it felt just a tiny bit scary.  It had been over two months since I last used my cameras.  Would these photos be any good?  Normally the 16th Street Mall is packed with pedestrians.  Would there be a lot of people milling about?  Would I be able to focus on getting quality images while worrying about my mask staying in place, or staying six feet apart from my clients?

Luckily, all of these worries were laid to rest as soon as I started clicking.  It was surprisingly a non-issue to shoot with a facial covering six feet away from my clients. Thankfully, the mall was quite desolate so we didn’t have to worry about bumping into people as we walked about.

All in all, I’d say it was a successful first shoot back!  It reignited my love for photography and made me long for any kind of shoot.  I’m excited to get back into it now that the world is slowly returning to normal.

Thank you so much to Melody + Jon for a fantastic engagement shoot.  Take a peek at my favorites from our time together below.  Thank you for stopping by the blog!
