Left over from my high volume wedding days is still a love of photographing details.
Only this time, these details are in someone else’s house!
Every now and again, I’ll have a friend reach out for some interior photography work for their businesses. In these cases, their real estate business or their countertop business (can you tell which photos are for which company?!).
Interior photography is always such a treat for me. It allows me to not only get out of the house and away from the computer, but it brings me back to basics. Suddenly I’m 28 years old, back at a wedding, photographing the cake, the shoes, the jewelry, the invitations. It takes me back to my early, formative years of photography, when it was just me + a camera — with a full-fledged business to come later, even if I didn’t know what was to come at the time.
My approach when doing interior photography work is to keep it natural. I don’t use HDR techniques or anything like that. What your home looks like is what I’m going to document!
I try to find interesting light as much as I can. I love challenging myself to find interesting angles that show off an interior space in a fresh and intriguing way. And of course, because I’m an admitted perfectionist, I’ll always look for straight, clean lines.
Take a peek at a few of my faves below from a handful of interior photo shoots I’ve done in recent times. Thank you for stopping by the blog!
