Denver Fall Mini Sessions

Denver fall mini sessions are coming!

I am in the office today planning this year’s round of fall mini sessions. They’ll be taking place on seven select dates in September and October of this year:

Monday 9/22
Tuesday 9/30
Wednesday 10/8
Saturday 10/11
Friday 10/17
Thursday 10/30
Saturday 11/1

My goal is to have nearly every day of the week available to you as an option. I haven’t worked a Sunday in a loooooongggg time, so I’ll have spots available around sunset times on each day of the week between Monday and Saturday.

Right now, I’m considering locations for where your minis will take place this year. Here are my past favorites:

Chautauqua Park in Boulder: quintessential Colorado, flatirons, fields

Family photo clients posing for Denver fall mini session

RiNo: colorful street art, gritty, urban

Union Station: classic, neutral colors, modern

Cheesman Park: flowers, tall trees, cozy vibes

City Park: rose bushes, skyline views, lush

Jefferson Park: possible fall colors, trees, park vibes

Byron J. White courthouse: Greek columns, crisp whites, can wear bolder outfits here

Clear Creek History Park in Golden: fall colors, rustic, outdoorsy

Civic Center Park: Greek architecture, skyline views, urban

These are some of the locations I’ve used in the past and they’re all so wonderful for different reasons! I’ll be narrowing these down to offer only the popular locations you’re interested in.

Downtown Denver Courthouse Elopement

There’s something undeniably classic about a Downtown Denver courthouse elopement. Maybe it’s the mix of timeless architecture and soft city light, or the simplicity of a couple showing up, ready to commit to each other without the fuss of a big wedding day.

For me, I simply love shooting at the Byron J. White courthouse downtown. It photographs so beautifully at any time of day. I love the clean white marble, Greek columns, and sage green lanterns peppered throughout the colonnade. Jaqueline + Kevin couldn’t have selected a more stunning backdrop for their elopement photos!

The bride chose a teacup-length dress that gave a subtle nod to 1950s styling. She did her own hair and makeup, which made her look feel all the more personal and effortless. With a bold red lip and vintage-inspired waves, she completely owned her look in the most understated, beautiful way.

Before our portrait session, the couple marked the moment by getting matching hand tattoos. It was such a fun, bold way to celebrate their commitment. After our photos, they headed to dinner in downtown Denver, keeping the vibe relaxed and true to who they are.

Courthouse elopements offer something unique: the freedom to skip tradition and lean into what matters most. A Downtown Denver courthouse elopement lets you celebrate your love your way, surrounded by the energy of the city. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes a raucous bridal party can be the best thing in the world — but sometimes it just needs to be the two of you. And my cameras. 🙂

JeffCo Courthouse Elopement Photos

JeffCo courthouse elopement photos bring a special kind of joy, especially when the couple flies in from Texas and their adventure unfolds afterwards with Boulder’s most stunning landscapes as the backdrop. I recently had the pleasure of photographing one such elopement, with their ceremony at the Jefferson County courthouse and their formal portraits taken at Chautauqua Park and Lost Gulch Lookout, which — for anyone who follows this blog — knows these are two of my absolute favorite spots for Colorado elopement photos!

Chautauqua Park offers that iconic Flatirons backdrop and quintessential Colorado vibes. After we finished at Chautauqua where they threw on their running shoes as an homage to how they met (run club baby!), we finished at Lost Gulch with that stunning sweeping shot of Colorado’s beauty behind them. We had some gusty wind so we didn’t linger too long here — just long enough to get these banger shots.

The entire day felt intimate, intentional, and undeniably memorable. I’m so grateful this couple trusted me with their courthouse elopement photos. Their entire experience felt like a love letter to travel, nature, and commitment. Flights from Texas were worth every minute!

Denver Couples Photos At Home

There’s something special about doing a session in your own space. It can bring an intimate, relaxed vibe that’s hard to replicate anywhere else. Your home is where you spend your mornings together, where you make coffee in your kitchen, where you laugh curled up next to each other in bed. It’s already filled with your energy, your history, and your story.

An in-home session lets you document your everyday love in a way that feels authentic. You don’t have to worry about the wind messing up your hair or dodging crowds at a popular photo spot (looking at you, Union Station). You can cozy up on your couch, dance in the kitchen, or lounge with your morning coffee — just being yourselves.

Plus, it’s the perfect way to add new photos to your collection that feel you. Maybe you already have engagement or wedding photos, but in-home sessions bring a more personal, unfiltered side of your relationship to the mix. They’re warm, intimate, and natural — just like the moments you share every day. They’re a great idea for an anniversary session or just because you want some new photos to add to your arsenal.

Denver Brand Photographer: PaleOMG x Nike

I’ve been feeling nostalgic lately and have found myself digging through old hard drives. The other day I came upon this shoot I did in 2017 with Juli at PaleOMG for one of her many brand collaborations — this time with Nike!

Juli and I used to do a ton of shoots together. We would do a couple a month, often featuring whichever sponsorships she’d landed at the time. We’d do multiple outfit changes per shoot for her Instagram and website.

For each session we did together, we’d talk about her vision for the shoot in the car ride over to wherever we happened to be shooting that day. For this particular shoot, she wanted something industrial, but not excessively grungy. Somewhere with a backdrop that wouldn’t overtake the focus of the shoot; in this case, a Nike athleisure set. A location with clean lines and of course, good light.

Can you take a guess at where we ended up for the photos below?!

It’s probably not what you might expect: a parking garage at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Bel Mar.

(One million bonus points if you did happen to guess that.)

Sometimes, the location for your branding photos just needs to be somewhere simple, where you can show off whichever products you happen to be featuring. Like a parking garage!

I love crafting imagery for my clients in even the most nondescript, unassuming places. I’ll always love a studio setup or somewhere with murals and vibrant colors, but I also love the challenge I get out of creating interesting artwork somewhere you would never think to whip out a camera and start shooting.
