Industrial Denver Bridal Photos

I don’t know about you, but I just can’t get enough of these industrial Denver wedding photos!

Last month, I did a shoot with my dear friend Jolene Picone, who is the owner, founder, and creative visionary behind Veil Trends and J-Picone Bridal.  She is a massive force of talent in the Denver bridal accessories world and it is always such a huge privilege to do a shoot with her.

For our sixth (!!!) collaboration together, we shot at the Stanley Marketplace out in Aurora.  The venue’s vibe is definitely urban-industrial, and it even has a dedicated space for those types of weddings.  I always love shooting here for that total city feel, and the light is perfection, too.

Here are a few of my favorite things from this day:

  • Those colored veils!  It’s not everyday that you see a periwinkle blue or lush lavender veil in the bridal world.  I love that Jolene steps outside the box and crafts truly unique items for her brides.
  • That bridal jumpsuit!  Holy shit, this needs to become a thing like yesterday.  I am head-over-heels in love with the idea of bridal jumpsuits, especially if you’re looking to craft a more non-traditional vibe for your wedding day.  The stunner from Ivy + Aster even had pockets.  It was just perfection all around.
  • Cathedral is queen.  There is something just so classic and timeless about a cathedral-length veil.  It gives you so much extra fabric to floof around with while taking photos on your wedding day, and I love the depth it adds to the final images.  I want all the movement!
  • Bangin’ wedding hair.  I love that our models went with a side-swept boho braid and a loose down-do for this shoot.  Updo’s can be a little stiff at times, or worse, prom-y.  I loved these relaxed yet sophisticated styles.

Thank you again to Jolene and this extraordinary vendor team for putting together these industrial Denver bridal photos.  Please enjoy my faves from the day, and thank you for stopping by the blog!

RiNo Denver Engagement Photos

I know you’re not supposed to play favorites in any line of work but damn.  These RiNo Denver engagement photos might just be some of my favorites of the past season!

Mike and Garrett chose to do their engagement session in the RiNo neighborhood as their wedding was planned for Aspen later in the fall.  I love it when my clients balance their photo shoot locations like this, as Colorado has just as much beauty to offer in its mountains as it does in its cities.

From our first consult at Denver Central Market, I knew I was going to have a blast working with these two.  They were recommended to me by one of my favorite Denver wedding planners, Lilli with Sweetly Paired, and I’m so grateful we connected.  It’s been nothing but laughter with these two, and honestly, what more could I possibly need from this job?!

I’m so excited to share some of my favorite frames from their colorful Denver engagement session below.  I just love all the different hues, tones and textures of the RiNo neighborhood and can’t wait to do more shoots there this coming season.  Thank you for stopping by the blog!

Author’s note: I’m sad to report this mural is no longer!  As of May 2020, it has been replaced by a blue buffalo on the west-facing side of RiNo’s resident coffee masters, Crema Coffee House.  I’m retroactively thankful for all the photos I took with it in the background!

Grant-Humphreys Mansion Wedding

For the last event of my 2018 season, I was so honored to photograph this romantic Grant-Humphreys Mansion wedding!  Emily was a former student of mine back when I was one of the student council advisors at Northglenn High School.  It was such a treat to see her make it official with her beau, Marc!

Take a peek at my favorite images below + stay for a mini-interview with the bride after the jump.

Mini-interview with the bride

What was your favorite part of the wedding day?  “Marc’s favorite moment was walking back down the isle after saying “I Do” to the song, “I Believe In A Thing Called Love.”

I think the best part of the entire day for me was from the first look with Marc and on. I was so stressed out all morning and freaking out about the weather (all the way up until the ceremony), but once we were ready and together, everything was awesome.

But if I had to choose one specific moment, it was the last two songs of the night on the dance floor. Marc’s favorite song is “Swing Life Away,” so that was what we chose for the last song. When it played, we were dancing with our group of best friends and everyone gathered around us in a giant hug to dance the rest of the song. I cried like a baby. It was so incredible to feel so much love. Then our DJ, Emily, played one more song, and it was “I Believe In A Thing Called Love.” We danced the hardest we’ve ever danced surrounded by the people we love most and it was just the best end to the best day!”

What was your favorite thing to plan or design and why? What would you outsource if you had to do this all over again?  “Honestly, I hated planning that wedding. If I did it all over again we would have had a destination wedding/eloped or I would have found money in the budget for a wedding planner because the day was totally worth it. It’s just so stressful to plan not having ever planned a wedding before!”

If you could give one piece of advice to other couples planning their weddings, what would it be?  “Only choose vendors you trust! Each and every vendor we chose was for a reason: they were not only awesome at their job, but truly incredible people. We knew that the people we chose to invest in would make sure we had the best day, and that’s exactly what happened!”

What did you do that was non-traditional or outside of the box for weddings?  “We had a fairly traditional wedding overall, but we made sure that every step of the way our choices reflected who we were and what we loved most. Everything we chose we chose because we thought it was cool, not because it fit into a traditional box.”

Where did you go/are going for your honeymoon?  We did a mini-moon in Telluride right after the wedding. We are planning a trip to Greece for a proper honeymoon later this year or next.”

Love these photos?!  Let’s talk!  If you’re getting married in Denver, feel free to get in touch and let’s chat about your celebration!  I’d love to hear what you’re planning!  -Ashley

Villa Parker Wedding

I still can’t get over how stunning this Villa Parker wedding turned out to be!  Nina + Rollie crafted a gorgeous Denver summer wedding day in one of the most romantic venues.  From start to finish, it was a celebration to remember and I’m so glad to have been there!

Some of my favorite things from their day:

  • Nina’s blingy heels from Badgley Mischka; very Sex and the City!
  • the homemade limoncello the couple used as escort cards
  • Rollie’s family had a Native American family come to give the couple and their parents a blessing during cocktail hour (so unique — I had never seen this before!)
  • Nina + Rollie chose to do an al fresco reception and it fit the Mediterranean vibe of the venue so well

These are just a few of my favorite things, and you’ll be able to see them all as you scroll below.  Thank you for stopping by to enjoy these Villa Parker wedding photos, and thank you again to Nina + Rollie!  Cheers!

A mini-interview with the bride, Nina:

What was your favorite part of the wedding day?   “The first look!”

What was your favorite thing to plan or design? “Invitations.
Flowers, though — I would have outsourced.”

If you could give one piece of advice to other couples planning their weddings, what would it be? “Do a first look. It helped me center myself and it was awesome to have that alone time with my best friend.” (This is SUCH good advice!)

What did you do that was non-traditional or outside of the box for weddings? “The Native American blessing was unique.”

Where did you go for your honeymoon? “Europe: France, Italy, Switzerland and Spain.”

Published Denver Wedding Photographers

I am so excited to share this publication with you today!  Back in April of this year, I was on vacation in South Carolina when an editor from The Knot reached out to me.  She asked if I wanted to have photos from a summer wedding I had photographed published in their upcoming issue.  Obviously, I said yes!

The editors selected Kristi + Jason’s wedding at the Curtis Hotel in downtown Denver to feature amongst a few other amazing real weddings in the issue that hit newsstands this past November.  I couldn’t believe they had reached out and asked for my photos!  It was such an awesome email to get, and it’s even more surreal seeing the photos in the magazine today.

Kristi + Jason had such a cool wedding day.  I know “cool” might seem like a weak modifier here, but it really was the essence of the word.  They had hand-painted golden pineapples as décor, stunning floral design by my lovely friend Stephanie at Lalé Florals, and a killer overall tropical theme.  Something you don’t see everyday in Colorado, and I was so thankful to have been part of this unique Denver wedding day.

To see this stunner wedding in-person, head to your nearest Barnes + Noble or King Soopers and grab one before they’re gone.  I’ve also got a full featured blog post dedicated to this Denver wedding here on the blog.  No matter which way you choose to digest these images, I hope you enjoy the spread + thank you for checking out the blog!
