City Park Denver Proposal Photos

As a Denver photographer who’s had the honor of capturing many proposals throughout the years, I can say there’s something truly magical about the moment two people decide to start their lives together. City Park in Denver offers the perfect backdrop for such an intimate occasion, with its breathtaking scenery (gotta love that city + mountain combo in the background) and peaceful atmosphere (we were some of the only people on this side of the park).

This proposal was no exception. From the excitement in the air to the smiles shared between the couple, it was a beautiful moment that I’m so thankful to have been a part of. The way these two looked at each other said it all — this moment was a true reflection of their love and commitment to one another.

Denver Courthouse Elopement

There’s always a first for everything, even for a veteran wedding photographer like myself: wedding photos on a bus!

As a daily transit rider, I was thrilled when Eric + Cassandra mentioned they wanted to take RTD from Cheesman Park to downtown for their Denver courthouse elopement photos. I’m a huge fan of the bus and couldn’t wait to mix my love of photography with my love of transit!

We started the afternoon at Cheesman Park for their quick nuptials. Afterwards, we hopped on the 10 heading towards Union Station, where we got off on 15th Street and walked up to one of my favorite courthouses in the city, the Byron White Courthouse. The white Greek columns of this building matched the colonnade at Cheesman Park perfectly.

My favorite things about this courthouse elopement:

Cassandra’s elegant champagne dress!
The perfect winter wedding backdrop. It was the first snow of the season!
Eric’s black suit. Nothing is more crisp than classic black!
Obviously, the bus ride from Cheesman to the courthouse. A sustainable couple is a happy couple!

Recent Awards: Best Denver Wedding Photographers

The first is from TrustAnalytica, where I came in first (!) in their latest ranking of the 11 Best Wedding Photographers in Denver. Though I no longer photograph traditional Saturday weddings, I still love my courthouse weddings, elopements, and smaller, more intimate weddings.

Your Denver headshots don’t have to suck.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

Your headshots don’t have to suck.

They don’t have to be in front of some basic ass white backdrop, where you sit awkwardly and smile like an old school school portrait (though I do love looking back at how dorky I was in those).

Headshots should be all about encapsulating your personality. The environment in which your headshot session takes place is paramount. It should match your vibe and spirit, and I think Kara’s headshot sessions below do exactly that.

For her sessions, we shot in both the RiNo Art District and Realm, a natural light photo studio and event space. If you’re new to my photos, RiNo has always been a long-standing favorite of mine, so I’ll always say yes to a photo session there.

I loved shooting at Realm. The light truly was stunning, and we had both soft indirect light and striking, dramatic direct light. Make sure you scroll to the end to see these banger images.

Denver City Park Family Photos

It’s been such a busy family photo season that I haven’t been able to even think about blogging anything until now! I’m so excited to show you some of these Denver City Park family photos from this recent summer.

What I loved about this session:

We had that perfect, good til the last drop summer sunlight. Nothing beats golden hour!
The new design at City Park (near the Denver Museum of Nature and Science) is really stunning! I loved the new flowers the city planted and made sure to include them in this session.
This adorable family! The girls were great in front of the camera and you can tell that everyone gets along even when the cameras aren’t clicking.

Thank you to this sweet family for having me do a round of family photos for you this year! I’m excited to share more family photos here soon — there’s a whopping 34 sessions that I shot this fall that I can’t wait to share!
